Nationals of many countries need a visa to enter and stay in the Federal Republic of Germany. One must apply for a visa at the responsible German mission abroad (embassy, consulate) before entering Germany.
With the declaration of commitment, you can enable visitors from abroad to enter Germany. As a host, you take on a special responsibility: you must prove that your guest’s stay is financially secure. To do this, you must submit a declaration of commitment, accompanied by a proof of income or savings.
In order for your declaration of commitment to be accepted, you must provide proof of your income or savings. To do this, you can open a blocked account and pay in the amount required by the foreigners authority. You can then download your blocking confirmation in the app and present it to the Foreigners Authority.
You can open the blocked account with Fintiba quickly and easily online. All you need is your passport. You can then pay the required amount via a bank transfer and once the money arrives in the blocked account, you will receive your blocking confirmation to present to the Foreigners Authority.
To open a blocked account with Fintiba, you will just need your valid passport. We won’t need any certified documents or any originals that are sent via post. The whole process is fully digital.
- Opening of the account
Upon registering for your blocked account on our website you will get access to an online platform where you can easily manage the details of your account opening.
! Important ! When you fill out your blocking agreement, please provide the following information:
Monthly amount: € 5.00
Additional basic amount: The amount required by the foreigners authority
Information on the divergent blocked amount: Declaration of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärung)
After entering your personal details and verifying your identity, your blocked account is opened and the blocked amount can be transferred to the account. Immediately after the blocking sum has arrived, your blocking confirmation will be issued automatically and you can download it from your Fintiba account. You can submit this document for your Declaration of Commitment at the Foreigners Authority.
- Closing of your account
After you have received your blocking confirmation, you do not need to do anything else at first. As soon as your guest has left the country, apply for a blocking release document at the Foreigners Authority and then select the “Close account” function in your Fintiba app. After checking the blocking release document, we will transfer the deposited amount (minus the account management fees) back to you.
Since the account opening process is completely online, it usually takes only a few hours to open your blocked account. This mainly depends on how quickly you upload the required documents and information. Please note that we can only check complete records, which means that every section must be filled in and every to-do completed to proceed to the next steps of the process.
The initial opening fee for the blocked account is € 89.00. The monthly account management fee is € 4.90 – it applies from the first month in which money is deposited in your account. We charge the monthly fees for the duration your account remains open.
